This post is pretty much common since but is something you need to come to realize with a hosting company. Your clients make your company what it is. It is with most certainty that you should always care about each individual client. With hosting companies, your power is in your numbers.
Also something I would like to say is that one good client is much greater for you than 5 bad ones. A powerful way of getting your name out there is through your clients. Good clients have no problem suggesting you to others as they know you are a good company. The bad ones, well, they don’t feel the same way. This is only one of the techniques we will be talking about here in the blog for Nixism. Be sure to check back with us soon!

Choosing the right host can be hard. We are always on the lookout for the “cheapest” solution to everything. Its the way we are.
Prices
The best way to find out whether you are getting a good price, is to simply compare to everyone around. Duh!
What specs are right for me?
There are all kinds of different websites out there. First look at the hard drive space you would be taking up. Look at your files and see how much you will need. Most websites don’t use over a 1,000MB if that. Some do however.
Secondly, look at the bandwidth. How much traffic are you getting or expecting to get? Make sure you get enough because you definitely don’t want your site going down at all.
Third, just take a look at the other specs and what the host offers. Such as MYSQL databases. If your going to use these then you need to be sure that they offer enough for you. Most hosts offer unlimited on all plans now. Some of the bigger companies don’t however. So just be sure to check out all the specs to see if they will work for you.

There are very vital keys to making a hosting company successful. Some of which I will talk about in this article.
Name and Theme
I believe your name has a lot to do with it. Also your theme that goes along with your name. In example, HostGator is a huge hosting company now. I think that A. their name is easy to remember and B. they have a nice theme to go with it. Now I am definitely not stating this is the only factor nor is it even close to being the most important.
Advertising
What site is successful without advertising? Just like anything these need to be put right in front of everyone’s faces all the time. Everywhere you look you need them to see your companies name. For this, take Coke, for example. They are a HUGE company and they sponsor all kinds of things. You see their name everywhere. Once you see things like this enough, it pretty much leaves a permanent scar in your mind. Now most of the time your not going to have enough money to get them out there like that. So what do you do? Take it slowly. Buy advertising on a pretty good little traffic site. Then expand as you get bigger. If they can’t see you, then your company will be a waste of your time and money.
Client Base
Now we get to one of the most important aspects of a hosting company. A client base. Why exactly would you want a client base? Well think of all the things you can get from one. Testimonials, they will tell others, the money from them will help you out. Like I said about advertising. Don’t be to impatient with it though. Hosting companies do take a lot of patience. So if your in this to get rich quick, don’t even bother.
Trust and Support
Reliability, trust, and great support. When a client sees that you have great support and they can trust you. Then more than likely they will stay with you for awhile. Hosting is all about support. No matter what, go out of your way to have the best support out there.
Community
Last of the items I will be talking about today is the community. Now Nixism’s community is very small, and we hope to get it up and going soon so I am kind of talking from a third party source here. Communities do in fact help out a hosting company. If you have a rather large community, you can build a hosting company around it. They are a great way to get clients.
Well if you have made it this far great. I hope you enjoyed my article.

Well, after seeing the rise of various invite only websites, I figured “why not make an article about it”. Everyone wants to be able to own or manage a very good website. Invite marketing, is a very good way to jump start your site with a very good on-coming crowd and also generating returning visitors. Invite marking has also became known as building “hype”. The dictionary definition for hype is; 1. to create interest in by flamboyant or dramatic methods; promote or publicize showily or 2. to intensify (advertising, promotion, or publicity) by ingenious or questionable claims, methods, etc.. “This is how sites like Hotmail, Gmail became such a hit so quickly, Gmail used the “invite” system to create a viral marketing campaign, which cost them nothing! People do the marketing for you, by writing blogs about Gmail, selling them on ebay, posting on forums and the like (EarnersTalk: Marketing Your Websites). ”
Techniques:
- Creating Deadlines, this is also known as your “expected release date”. If an user is appealed by your sites topic or just can’t wait to see how your site will turn out, then set a good expected launch date, that you and your staff know you can guys can meet.
- Splash Pages, creating a very appealing splash page “eye candy” can draw in a lot of attention. It shows that a lot of time was put in to the image of the design.
- Newsletters, getting users to sign up for a newsletter before launching can also be a very effective way. It helps to keep in contact with your users, and it also helps your using to feel comfort and belonging. A site that sends out weekly or monthly newsletters will mostly likely attract those returning visits.
Pros:
- Very cheap compared to other various forms of marketing (adwords, paid advertising). For instance, google adwords can be very costly, especially if you are trying to get a good campaign. The traditional banner advertisements can also be costly and can put a huge dent in your pockets.
- Builds returning users, this option can vary dramatically depending on the type of website. If you have a fairly unique website, versus a website with a free forums skin, and a bunch of advertisements; it is obvious that the unique one will be popular. Users look for a clean atmosphere with an unique image to be portrayed. If this unique image is a good one, it will generate your site a lot of returning visits.
- Builds large sites, building hype can be the cheapest way to get your site off its feet. I have seen many sites take off, just from this simple marketing strategy. To name a few, sites like gmail, hotmail, joost, and moola have taken of tremendously.
Cons:
- Ineffective promotion, this can ruin your start in a great way. For instance, either launching the site too early or launching your site with too many bugs or too little features.
- Missed Deadline, if you missed your release date, then your site is basically starting off with a bad image, which can be very hard to get out of.

I see a lot of posts wondering whether the design of the hosting site is an important factor on whether the hosting will be good or reliable and such.
Is it?
Think about it this way. If your going into the business and you truly want to make something out of your company, then your going to have to put money into it. By having a good unique design, it proves that the company cares about what they are doing. Don’t let the great packages and overselling get to you. Be sure to note the design when purchasing hosting. I see a lot of hosting companies overselling and using a “premade” template. These are the ones you should really pay close eye on. So what if you pay a buck more to get reliable web hosting. Its all worth the reliability.

Your web host is something you should cherish and also can rely on. Finding an affordable web host is like finding an affordable apartment. Think about it, you are renting hosting space from a provider, just the way you would rent an apartment. Below is a list of things you should take into consideration.
- Prices, Probably one of the most important things is finding a good price, that you would be able to handle monthly. When looking for a host, you should have an estimated budget on how much you would like to spend monthly. For instance, think about your sites niche and how much you would be able to profit off your site monthly, and use this figure to help determine the price you are looking for.
- Reliability, Another one of the most important things in finding a good web host. Finding a host that is reliable, has its many benefits. For instance, in times of downtime you should have a host that has several contact methods or a strong SLA. You should be able to trust your host, just like you should be able to trust your landlord if you were renting an apartment.
- Quality Services, Probably the most important thing in finding a web host. First and foremost, you should be looking for hosts that provide quality services. What I mean by this is, look for a host that owns its own dedicated server. Also look for a host that doesn’t oversell for low costs. I like to stress the fact that if an individual wants great service, and reliability that it comes with a price tag. Don’t get me wrong, there are some hosts out there that are established and can throw out these outrageous prices for outrageous specs.
- Your Specifications, You should personally know, how much your site needs and an estimated amount of monthly traffic. With these numbers in mind, you should be able to pick a decent amount of disk space. Majority of websites don’t use more than 1 GB of disk space, but depending on the niche it can change. For instance, a popular image hosting site can use up for 10 GB worth of space. But sites like just a wordpress blog only take up like 100 MB of space. Also, you should know how well your site will be visited in terms of bandwidth percentages. If you have put a lot of work into your website, then you should expect great results. Average sites use not more than 50-100 GB Bandwidth monthly, but when you have sites like either talkfreelance or digitalpoint, that probably receive thousands of uniques daily, then this figure can go up dramatically.
- Company Reputation. This is very important, because you would need to be able if you can trust your web host. I would suggest you to do very deep research on your provider. Find all pros and cons on your web host, look for customer testimonials, and look at how others view them. I would suggest search webhostingtalk for testimonials and experiences by other users.
- Company Experience, Is also a very important thing, most people feel safe when they are with a host that has been around for a long and has established themselves in what they are providing. I strongly suggest looking for web hosts that have at least 3-4 years of experience. Don’t get me wrong, there are other good hosts out there that have proven themselves reliable. Hosts such as HostedFX, Brius, Websolvents to name a few. All of those sites have not had the 3-4 years of experience, but you can trust them and they won’t let you down. Last but not least, Nixism, is here for you and won’t let you down; just ask our clients.
- 99.9% Uptime Guaranteed, A very important guaranteed, that you should always look for, and always make sure your host can provide. It is very unlikely that any host can sustain a 100% Uptime Guarantee unless they own like 100 datacenters which is kind of far fetched.
- Money Back Guaranteed, Another one of those things you should look at for. The longer the guarantee the more I believe you can trust the host. Companies that have long money back guarantee’s show a lot, because its makes you feel secure; it also shows that the company trusts themselves, and that they have what it takes to provide you with quality services.
- Support,Is very important, and also very important. Some companies might offer 24/7 support, while others offer fast reply. Most people, when adjusting to a new host will need their questions answered, or their files transfered for them. Being available either 24/7 or have a fast reply support system is very beneficial. It makes the person feel that they are very important and that the company has their interested at mind.
Guarantees:
These are just a very few, things you should consider when choosing a web host. You should also, do research on your provider and see how long they have been established. Good Luck finding yourself a reliable web host.
